General Questions
What is Snapixel?
There are multiple types of photographers. Not every photo belongs in a stock photo library and not every photographer is interested in selling their photos. Snapixel bridges the two concepts into one, by combining a photo community with a stock photo marketplace.

Snapixel offers flexible rights management such as creative commons licensing for photos that are not for sale and standard and extended licences for photos listed in the Marketplace. In addition, a Snapixel Seller account has automatic watermarking and right click protection, to minimize the risk of copyright infringement.

Take the tour to learn more.

Organizer
How do I use the batch operations?
The organizer batch operation allows you to apply attributes such as tags, geo-tagging and licensing properties to multiple images at once. To perform batch operations you must select the images you want edited into the main loading area by selecting thumbnails from the lower thumbnail tray. Clicking on the thumbnail will add the selected thumbnail into the main loading area.

I don't see all my images in the slider bar.
By default only 50 of your most recent images will load in the slider bar. To load more use the load images feature. You can choose to load more images by upload date or tags.

How do I select and load multiple images at once?
Select the first image by clicking on the thumbnail. While holding down the shift key, select the last image. All images in between including the first and last images will be added to the main loading area for batch processing.

How do I remove images I selected?
To remove an image from the main loading area click and drag the thumbnail from the main area into the lower portion of the screen. The thumbnail tray will become a removal area, "Remove from batch". Please note that removing your image from the main loading area will not delete it from your account.

Commercially Viable Stock Images
Focus on submitting images that can be used in a wide variety of uses. General concept images that show an idea or theme are great and increase the marketability of your photos.

Snapixel photos that we'd like to see more of:

Corporate or Business related shots.
These are among the most popular and widely used stock photos. Ordinary activities with a business twist such as a jogger in a business suit, has much more potential than just a guy standing there mugging for the camera.

Groups & Teams
Sports activities with multiple people are great.

Photos that convey a well defined concept
Example: Travel (Compass, Maps, Location specific, unique or well known food and beverages)

Sports and Sporting Activities
Mountain biking, Road biking, Golf, Soccer, Yoga, Rock Climbing, Camping, Capoeira, Kayaking... you get the idea.

Rare or Vintage Artifacts
Stamps, Sewing machines, lawn mowers, tractors, cars, motorcycles, cell phones. Ok, not cell phones.

Fashion is as fashion does. (Fashion sells period.)

Food and Beverages
Everyone loves to eat and so do we. In fact, we love photos of food. The more mouth watering, the better.

Image Guidelines
Upload Requirements
Uploaded images must have a minimum width of 665 pixels (1600x1200 native pixels for stock images) and be in JPG (RGB) format only. All trademarks must be removed. This includes logos, brands and entities with copyright or trademarked elements.

Upload Tools
Multi Uploader - Upload multiple photos using the multi upload form. Use CTRL-click (Mac: Command-Click) or Shift-click or just drag to select multiple images in the browse/select window.

Single Uploader - The single uploader is suited for users who have older browsers which cannot load the Flash based multi uploader.

Entering Titles, Description and Tags
Be as descriptive as possible with accurate titles, descriptions and keywords. One of the most important steps to keep in mind, is the correct use of keywords. This will increase your visibility for search engines, as well as the Snapixel search query, to enable buyers to easily find your photos. The more relevant the details, the better. For stock photographers, this will also increase the approval process, as we may not have important information available to understand the details of each photo submitted. Creative professional searching for a specific photo may pass over a photo due to the inability to find it. It's common for photo searches to span many sites and multiple stock photo libraries, until the correct image is found. Keywords are your friend.

Examples of acceptable keywords:
Keywords: 1910 Pierce, Chainless Bicycle, Shaft Drive, Spring Suspension, The Pierce Cycle Company, Vintage Bicycle, Troxel Saddle

Unacceptable example:
Keywords: bike, old, rare, 1910

Include at least 10 keywords and use an accurate, descriptive title other than bike or bicycle.

Stock Photo Licensing
  • Standard / Extended Content Licensing - the copyright holder licenses the work according to the outlined licensing agreements.
Please note: Photos that are uploaded to Snapixel under the Creative Commons licensing options are not available for sale in the Snapixel Marketplace.

What is Creative Commons?

Creative Common licenses will allow others to share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof. Visit Creativecommons.org for more information.
