A very colorful yellow flower seen early in the spring in Central and Eastern Texas. This plant is a member of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae). It grows 1 - 2 feet tall and blooms from March to May. It is an annual. The petals form the ray flower and the center forms the disk flower. The species can be difficult to identify.
