This is probably the most beautiful and most well known Indian Paintbrush in East and Central Texas. It blooms from March to May with April being the peak. This is an Annual. It is a member of the Figwort Family (Scrophulariaceae). It grows 6 to 15 inches tall. The flowers can make up 2 - 7 inches. This photograph shows the flower just beginning to open.
